Bringing scattered evidence into one structured resource
The gut microbiota produces a diverse range of metabolites that serve as important mediators between microorganisms and the host immune system. Increasing evidence has revealed that microbial-derived metabolites can modulate immune responses by regulating cytokines, immune cells, and inflammatory pathways. However, these complex metabolite-immune regulatory relationships remain scattered across extensive scientific literature.
MicroimmuneDB is a manually curated database that integrates experimentally supported interactions between microbiota-derived metabolites and human immune components, including cytokines and immune cells. The dataset contains 98 metabolites, 69 immune targets, and 1,488 metabolite–immune regulatory interactions. Each entry provides detailed information on metabolite identity, immune targets, regulatory direction, and supporting literature evidence.
By providing a searchable and structured resource, MicroimmuneDB facilitates the exploration of microbiota-derived metabolite functions and supports the discovery of potential mechanisms.
